Through the Bible in a Year (.pdf file)

Sunday

Luke 13:31–35 (ESV) At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” 32 And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course. 33 Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.’ 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not! 35 Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”

Thank you Dale Carter  •  Dale C. has been chairman of the deacons for as long as most people can remember and has served the church admirably. Dale’s job requirements have changed at Home Depot requiring him to work on Sunday. Realizing he cannot serve the church as a deacon with this restriction, Dale has submitted his resignation to the Session who received it with understanding and regret. However, the Session wishes to express their gratitude to Dale for his years of devoted service and ask you to do the same.

Cookbooks Status  •  There are forty-six (46) cookbooks left so please think about a purchase as soon as possible. All the proceeds go to Meg, the missionary we support in Tanzania. As long as the cookbooks are here money that could be sent to Meg is missed. Please consider buying one or two or three. See Becky C.

Zona Maya Missions Trip  •  Wednesday, July 20–Wednesday, July 27  Please pray for those who are raising the support and preparing to go to the Zona Maya this summer. For more information please see Richard L.

VBS 2010  •  We are grateful for the devoted service of Neil K. and Suzanne S. who have led the VBS the past couple of years. As we anticipate VBS for 2010 there are a couple of obstacles which has made us step back to seek God’s guidance.

  1. The financial needs of the church do not allow for the budget needs of the past VBS requirements.
  2. The life commitments of the leaders mentioned above do not allow for them to lead the VBS.

The session is asking you to pray that God will guide us and provide a leader who can devise and implement a plan for VBS using the resources we have. If God is leading you to be that leader, please discuss the situation with Elder Ray Collins. The session would like to hear your ideas as soon as possible.
