As we are asking everyone to join together to pray and seek God’s guidance and answer to our needs at Christ Community Presbyterian Church, we recognize that every need is a spiritual need. That’s not a downgrade of the church but an upgrade of our view of all needs as spiritual. This means we are going to seek God before we try to make things happen on our own. This means we are going to use the occasion to come together to pray. This is what happened in the days of Jehoshaphat . As you think about prayer and our coming together to pray on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. – it’s not like our meeting makes God obligated or we feel we are storming the throne of God, rather it’s a demonstration of our dependency upon Him. We are assured that God is pleased when we are diligent about prayer. Luke 18:1-8 (ESV) 1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, "In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, 'Give me justice against my adversary.' 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, 'Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.' " 6 And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" Colossians 2:6-7 (ESV) Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. For what are you thankful? Please let the church know your praise items to be included in next week’s update. Pastor Bob and Jan, the worship team, elders, deacons, teachers, and volunteers.
