You might think the job was done. The enemy was destroyed, the enemy king was brought back as a captive, and the best of the flocks and herds were brought back to offer to the Lord.

King Saul is quite proud of his accomplishment, but Samuel had other ideas.

None of us like to examine ourselves. We are told to do self examinations of our bodies to look for signs of cancer, but the truth is very few people do. We are told that the best way to get control of what we eat is to keep a diary and examine what we have put into our mouths, but the truth is very people do. One of the best ways to get a handle on your schedule is to keep a list of appointments and tasks then prioritize them, but the truth is very few people are willing to take the time. What is up with that? Even though these have proven to be helpful in producing positive changes, most people won’t perform the self exam.

What would you do if you had more time? … more money? We all talk about how good it would be if we had more time in a day so we could get all the things accomplished we would like. There’s not a person who hasn’t thought through what having more money would be like. What would you do if you had more money or time?

Him, how great the sense of “sins forgiven felt,” how you couldn’t get enough of the Bible or church? What happened? How is it different today?
