Luke 11:5–13 (ESV) And he said to them, "Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; 7 and he will answer from within, 'Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything'? 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. 9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" What do you do when you pray and nothing seems to happen? Jesus gives us an illustration to remind us to keep praying. But as you persevere in prayer, it’s not like you are trying to convince just anyone to help you, or trying to persuade a friend, nor are you seeking to move God. Instead, it’s an opportunity to express helplessness as you pray and pursue fellowship with Him. After all, it is when we feel our need of Him that we tend to seek the Lord and desire fellowship with Him the most. |

It’s not an accident that you cry to your Father in Heaven when you are in trouble. Actually, it’s the working of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:15-17 (ESV) For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. |

What is the one thing that is needed in your life? What is the one thing that is needed in our church? Jesus showed us the one thing that is needed in our lives, the same as was needed in Martha’s life – intimacy with the Lord Jesus Christ. Luke 10:41 & 42 (ESV) But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her." |

Ephesians 4:15 & 16 (ESV) Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. Many times when children are whining and carrying on parents will tell them, “Grow up.” Likewise, we Christians need to grow up into the Lord Jesus Christ. There are some similarities of growing up or maturing as a Christian, and a child growing up and becoming an adult. |

Psalms 89:15 (English Standard Version) Blessed are the people who know the festal shout (“joyful sound” in the KJV), who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face, The Gospel is a wonderful blessing. When Jesus rejoiced at the revelation of truth to the disciples He was quick to point out the blessing of this revelation. |
