Habakkuk 3:2 (ESV) O Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy. As I have been talking about, encouraging you to pray for, and have mentioned revival a number of times, I thought it best to write a few articles about revival. I have been inspired to study, pray for, and talk about revival after spending the day in prayer for revival with Pastor Al Baker who was at the St. Petersburg PCA church recently. A group of pastors met with Pastor Baker the following day as he encouraged us in further study and prayer. As I have read about revivals in the past, I have been greatly encouraged. Why not ask God to do great things in our midst? Why not ask God to bless His church to be renewed in our commitment to Him and our hunger for His presence? Why not ask God to give His church the sensitivity to sin so that we are ready and willing to repent even of what we consider the slightest sin? |

What is your purpose in life? Why did God place you here? Why has He done what He has for any of us, to any of us, or through any of us? The answer is simple: for His glory. His creation speaks of His glory. Psalms 19:1-3 (ESV) The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. |

It’s A Matter Of Prayer1 Timothy 2:1-8 (ESV) 1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. 7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 8I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; |

It’s an appropriate question for all of us to use for self examination. Are we alive? Are there signs of life? Are we breathing and eating? I’m not talking physically but spiritually. If we are followers of Jesus Christ then we are alive and there should be some signs of life. To be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ is far from dead religion. Everything about Christianity is life. Jesus even said that He came to give life and in Him is life. John 1:4 (ESV) In him was life, and the life was the light of men. |

JR Strang and I recently had the privilege of attending the day of fasting and prayer at St. Petersburg Presbyterian Church with Pastor Al Baker from Hartford, CT. The day was quite profitable as we were instructed on praying for revival from the scripture and inspired by the various revivals in church history, all of which began by people feeling desperate and calling upon the Lord. (We also prayed, of course, for nearly 12 hours and I have to say that it was a real blessing and time passed very quickly which seems to happen when you’re in the presence of someone you love!) There’s an account of desperation that Jesus told as He taught about perseverance in prayer: Luke 11:5-10 (ESV) And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his impudence he will rise and give him whatever he needs. 9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. |
