Christ Community Presbyterian Church (CCPC) is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). CCPC is located in Clearwater on the Florida Suncoast and is one of Florida’s Bible-Centered Reformed PCA Presbyterian Churches. We believe the Bible to be the very word of God. We believe Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, and  preach Him crucified, risen and ascended in glory. We believe all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and that Christ is the only Savior of sinners.

CCPC Online is an extension of the covenant family of Christ Community Presbyterian Church PCA. Come and visit our Clearwater, FL church and see what we’re all about.

This Week's Sermon Reference

Continued exposition of the book of Luke:

The Best Seat In the House (No. 64 in Luke)

Luke 14:1–14 (ESV) One Sabbath, when he went to dine at the house of a ruler of the Pharisees, they were watching him carefully. 2 And behold, there was a man before him who had dropsy. 3 And Jesus responded to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath, or not?” 4 But they remained silent. Then he took him and healed him and sent him away. 5 And he said to them, “Which of you, having a son or an ox that has fallen into a well on a Sabbath day, will not immediately pull him out?” 6 And they could not reply to these things. 7 Now he told a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the places of honor, saying to them, 8 “When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him, 9 and he who invited you both will come and say to you, ‘Give your place to this person,’ and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place. 10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you. 11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” 12 He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. 13 But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, 14 and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”

Larger Catechism Questions of the Week

To help us all express our faith and be further grounded in our faith, the session is encouraging families to learn and/or review the Westminster Confession of Faith, Larger Catechism, so we will include “questions of the week” in the weekly newsletter.

Q51. What was the estate of Christ’s exaltation?
A.    The estate of Christ’s exaltation comprehended His resurrection, ascension, sitting at the right hand of the Father, and His coming again to judge the world.

Q52. How was Christ exalted in His resurrection?
A.    Christ was exalted in His resurrection, in that, not having seen corruption in death, (of which it was not possible for Him to be held,) and having the very same body in which He suffered, with the essential properties thereof, (but without mortality, and other common infirmities belonging to this life,) really united to His soul, He rose again from the dead the third day by His own power; whereby He declared Himself to be the Son of God, to have satisfied divine justice, to have vanquished death, and him that had the power of it, and to be Lord of quick and dead: all which He did as a public person, the head of His church, for their justification, quickening in grace, support against enemies, and to assure them of their resurrection from the dead at the last day.

Q53. How was Christ exalted in His ascension?
A.    Christ was exalted in His ascension, in that having after His resurrection often appeared unto and conversed with His apostles, speaking to them of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God, and giving them commission to preach the gospel to all nations, forty days after His resurrection, He, in our nature, and as our head, triumphing over enemies, visibly went up into the highest heavens, there to receive gifts for men, to raise up our affections thither, and to prepare a place for us, where He Himself is, and shall continue till His second coming at the end of the world.

Q54. How is Christ exalted in His sitting at the right hand of God?
A.    Christ is exalted in His sitting at the right hand of God, in that as God-man He is advanced to the highest favour with God the Father, with all fullness of joy, glory, and power over all things in heaven and earth; and does gather and defend His church, and subdue their enemies; furnishes His ministers and people with gifts and graces, and makes intercession for them.

Q55. How does Christ make intercession?
A.    Christ makes intercession, by His appearing in our nature continually before the Father in heaven, in the merit of His obedience and sacrifice on earth, declaring His will to have it applied to all believers; answering all accusations against them, and procuring for them quiet of conscience, notwithstanding daily failings, access with boldness to the throne of grace, and acceptance of their persons and services.

Q56. How is Christ to be exalted in His coming again to judge the world?
A.    Christ is to be exalted in His coming again to judge the world, in that He, Who was unjustly judged and condemned by wicked men, shall come again at the last day in great power, and in the full manifestation of His own glory, and of His Father’s, with all His holy angels, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, to judge the world in righteousness.
